Support a
Local Teacher at the 2010 Iowa Jump$tart Conference
The 10th
annual Jump$tart Financial Literacy Conference will be July 22-23
at the DMACC campus in Ankeny, Iowa. For several years, Iowa
credit unions have sponsored staff development and graduate credit
costs for teachers who attend the conference, which has been much
appreciated by those recipients.
Cost of the credit ranges from $65 to $130, depending on which
institution the teacher is seeking the credit.
Credit unions also sponsor a teacher's cost to attend the
conference for $150. That covers both the conference registration
and hotel accommodations. Also, credit unions are invited to attend
an Industry luncheon on July 22 at the conference following a
keynote presentation from J. Barry Griswell, president of the
Community Foundation of Greater Des Moines and former CEO of
Principal Financial Group.
information on the conference.
If you are willing to provide a scholarship, please
contact Marybeth at 515.221.3001 or marybethf@iowacreditunions.com by Wednesday,
July 7.

July
30 Scholarship Deadline is Quickly Approaching
The next deadline to apply for ICUF scholarships is Friday,
July 30. Applications need to be received or postmarked
by this date. Email and fax submissions are acceptable.
The League President's Scholarship provides Iowa credit
unions, their employees and their chapters with funding for ICUL
education events, national schools, internal educational
activities, community educational projects and certification
programs.
It's also not too early to think about applying for a
Small Credit Union Technology Grant or a Governmental Affairs
Conference Grant. If your credit union is under $15 million in
assets, you can use a technology grant for an upcoming technology
purchase or to conduct strategic planning. Costs of ongoing
technology expenses will not be considered. The deadline for
applications is November 12, 2010.
The Small Credit
Union Governmental Affairs Conference will offset the cost of
registration and travel for a credit union manager and board member
of a credit union under $15 million in assets. The grant does not
cover costs for a spouse or guest to attend GAC.
