Financial
Education Webinar on Using Intern Resources Set for January 26
ICUF's first financial education webinar of 2011 will be held on
January 26 at 11:30 a.m. The most common reaction we hear regarding
increasing financial literacy efforts is, "We're so busy
already, it's just another project to throw on the heavy load."
So, to help you lighten the load, we'll focus on the following:
- The
benefits of utilizing an internLeveraging technology
- Strategies,
tactics and ways to engage with your members and future
members through multiple channels
- Learn
where to find content
- Financial
literacy binder. This guide will serve as a critical piece in
your financial education efforts and will be released to you
in bite-sized sections throughout the year.
Please make it a priority to attend -- you'll be glad
you did! Registration is not needed. Please use the following

2011
Scholarship and Grant Application Now Available!
The 2011 application
for certain ICUF grants and scholarships is now available
online with a first-round deadline of Friday, February 18.
This application includes the AWJ Scholarship for CUNA Management
School, the League President's Grant for a credit union or chapter
initiative, and the Small Credit Union Technology and GAC grants.
There are rolling application dates for the AWJ and League
President programs. The Small Credit Union Grant applications are
due in November 2011.
Please remember to include all required attachments with your
application.

Scholarship Application Deadline is Friday, February 4
Need money for school? The Family Involvement Board (FIB)
Scholarship deadline of February 4 is fast approaching!
There are two scholarship programs available:
- Current
high school seniors with a projected graduation date of 2011
(four scholarships available)
- Post-high
school students who are entering or attending an accredited
undergraduate, graduate or vocational program (two
scholarships available)
Applicants must have an account established in his or
her own name and be a "member in good standing" at a
credit union, complete the online entry form
and write an essay that is no more than 500 words on the following
two-part topic:
What does the phrase 'living within your means' mean
to you? How can your credit union help you achieve this?
Deadline for all applications is Friday, February 4. For more

Money
Smart Week Kid Contest Awards Funds for Students
Iowa students in grades 6-8 apply for the contest and
one student will receive a $1,000 College Savings Iowa account,
funded jointly by ICUF and IBA. College Savings Iowa is Iowa's 529
college savings plan. Students must be recommended by a teacher and
must write an essay of no more than 300 words on this year's topic.
Applications are due
March 21, 2011. Please consider
distributing this information to elementary and middle schools in
your communities. More information can be found at moneysmartweek.org/iowa.

Credit
Union Family Partnership Program Continues to Grow
The Credit Union Family Partnership Individual
Development Account (IDA) Program, a matched savings program
available through 20 participating Iowa credit unions, currently
has 112 active savers who have saved $148,267.31 to date.
Even more exciting, since 2009 28 credit union members
have purchased an asset with their savings and matching funds from
ICUF for a home, education, small business or vehicle. The program
currently has a waiting list for matching funds, with nine savers
currently on it.
