Financial literacy focus of 3 programs — 

Using money management and financial literacy as weapons to combat poverty will be the focus of free public programs at the Stark Student Center at Briar Cliff University in Sioux City, Iowa.

Adam Carroll will present “Winning the Money Game” at 7 p.m. Monday. He founded National Financial Educators in 2004 to educate, entertain and inspire young people to live their lives in control of their money.

Marybeth Foster, executive director of the Iowa Credit Union Foundation, will discuss the Individual Development Account, a new asset-development program for working adults who are within 200 percent of the poverty line. Foster’s co-presenter will be John Parks, CEO of Sioux Valley Community Credit Union. They will speak at 9 a.m. Tuesday.

Briar Cliff student Abby Buckhouse will present “Influencing Community Thinking About Poverty Policy and Programs,” from her research on poverty and mobility projects in the Sioux City area, at 1 p.m. April 23.
