The Iowa Credit Union Foundation (ICUF) is pleased to announce the start of the 2014 Warren A. Morrow Memorial Scholarship program, which will award $5,750 in scholarships to high school seniors and graduates.
High School Scholarship - These scholarships are designated for four high school seniors planning to enter college in 2014. The first place prize is $1,500; second place is $1,000; third place is $750 and fourth place is $500.
Post-High School Scholarship - These scholarships are designated for individuals entering or attending an accredited undergraduate, graduate or vocational program in 2014. The post-high school scholarship category will award two $1,000 scholarships.
Applicants must complete the online application and write an essay that is no more than 500 words on the following topic:
Financial literacy is now part of the Iowa's Department of Education's core curriculum.
What are the most important aspects of money management that should be taught when it comes to savings, checking, borrowing or investing for the long term? How can credit unions help you and others with financial education?
The essay must be the original work of the applicant. Judging will be based on originality, clarity, meaningful content, accurate presentation of facts, adherence to contest rules, spelling, grammar and punctuation.
The deadline for applications is February 7, 2014. Winners will be notified via mail in April 2014, and the results will be posted on www.IowaCreditUnionFoundation.org.
